I do not however contemplate that the Government should pay more than £1800 a year for a Mail daily conveyance from each place at hours adapted to the convenience of the Post Office.
How far it may be expedient that a Contract should be made with the Company represented by Mr. W. Brance, is a question upon which I would beg leave to suggest that the opinion of the Admiralty may be taken, particularly as I have been informed that the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company intend to place a Steam Vessel on the same line in the early part of next year.
